dream house

When Mr. Cozy Apartment and I were starting to seriously save for a house, I wrapped this list around my credit card.  I wanted to have the card on me for emergencies, but needed to remind myself not to use it.  Well, lots of self-restraint and several months later, we bought the house we wanted and we love it!

Who gets their dream house on the first try???  We hadn’t even begun looking at houses when that list came about and yet this place has 7 of our 8 wish list items!  It’s pretty amazing how lucky we are and we appreciate that.  Living here is incredible, every morning I drink it all in and cannot believe how beautiful it is.  The additional space has given us more creative freedom than we could have had in the cozy apartment.  

The Cozy Apartment has been a lovely sweet spot for me, but the house calls out for an online space of its own.  Having accomplished the impossible dream of owning a home gives me the sense that other impossible dreams might be achieved, too! 

So, good bye Cozy Apartment, I’ll think of you fondly. 

72!

It was sunny and 72 today!  72!  The BEST weather!  Sunny, a couple of clouds, a light breeze and 72!  This is the best part of the year, waking up from winter!  Time for eating on the porch, finally planting the clematis I bought 2 weeks ago (my hubby affectionately named it 'Clem'.), BLT's, ice cream (this new one is...well, gone in this house!) and sandals.  Everyone seems much less cranky and somewhat dazed!  In case it rains again, I bought this pillow at Target....you know....just in case.

no, not me for once!  This Spring!  It's like this every year and every year I'm impressed by the abrupt changes in the weather!  Hail, rain, sun, rain, sun, hail, mix well, repeat for 2-3 months.  The colors are dramatic, too; bright yellow sun, dark grey storm clouds, light pink blooms.  I've had these fabrics for a while, waiting for the right project!  So this year they turn into a Moody Spring quilt! 

 

This quilt is based on the Easy Lap Quilt in Bend the Rules Sewing.  The patterns in the fabrics are large, so I wanted a pattern that would allow large ribbons of pattern to stand out.  It took me a while to get the pieces just where they worked best.  It's a challenge to balance out color and scale in a busy quilt like this! 

Next comes ironing, more sewing, then the quilting.  Nothing fancy with the quilting, just straight lines through the rows, like this.  And this one is allll for me!  Well.......for me and another grey storm cloud in this house:
