this blog. No, really. What else is there in life? Nothing good, I tell ya! Yep, today was another day off! Woo hoo! Love that. My days off alone in this apartment are so blissful. Laundry going, cat snuggling (see above), fabric sorting (see below). The weather was perfect for this sort of thing today, blustery, rainy, sunny. Ah, spring.
Gaaaaah....whenever I take a minute to look at my fabric stash, I just get lost. Well, yeah, there's a lot of it...but I get lost in all of the possibilities. I spend a lot of time daydreaming about projects, not as much time doing them. Today my goal was to make it easier to envision the fabrics as actual projects, not just slap-dash colors on the wall. I sorted them by designer, line, print and color. Yeah, I'm a bit sick. But seeing all of the collections like this helps me organize the projects in my head.
These fabrics in particular, Amy Butler's Forest line for Kokka, are an obsession of mine. I started sewing way after these came out and now they're out of print. I find a yard here, a yard there and have put them together in their colorways today. Several prints from that line are still missing from the collection, but I'm in no hurry. Mainly because I have NO idea what I'm going to do with them! They're heavyweight canvas and SO perfect that I'm afraid to cut them! For now I'll settle for gazing and salivating.
Bought a couple of sewing books, including Sew U Home Stretch. My goal is to sew with knits this year. I'd like to make a few simple knit skirts for summer and there are a couple of t-shirts I'd like to turn into pillows. Sewing with knits seems slightly intimidating, but the author makes it sound easier than I think it will be. I'll keep you posted on how that goes! Yay for Jo Ann's clearance section where knits to practise with can be had for $1/yd!
My mood lately has been a feeling of ".....pending....", it's that weird season that's not warm enough for flip flops, but too warm for a sweatshirt. Glad for the leaves on the trees, things look alive out there again! Oh! And we put up a wall on the left side of the porch for some privacy from the creepy neighbor! Why did it take us so long to think of that? It's perfect! Now all we need is some 70 degree weather and a good beer! ...waiting....!
