Sew Mama Sew is putting together a list of helpful sewing tips, here’s my contribution!
Cooking is not my forte.
I have ruined frozen skillet meals with amazing precision. However, I did take a piece of advice from
Rachel Ray and applied it to sewing; I use a Trash Bowl.
All those unruly bits of thread, the bobbin from the last project, the scraps of fabric, dull needles, pins, you name it, it all goes into the bowl. I don’t know about you, but when I finally get a chance to actually sew, I don’t want to have to worry about pins ending up on the floor, my cat ingesting the odd piece of string or if I’m going to keep the scrap I just cut off. It all goes in the bowl! Then when there’s some free time (ie-tv watching), I sort through it all and decide what goes where. Bare feet and kitty tummies remain safe!
